Thank you Mary for your comment. You are right , monitoring our thoughts and where they take us is key. When we ask the tough questions the answers are within.

Awesome Sue, I love it, especially the part "insecurity is found only from within".... I believe everything starts with us and ends with us... and this statement says it all... I like the questions too, helps us all to monitor our own conscience and sub conscience, thank you :~)

Vaughan thanks for the input. Can you say more about Psychosynthesis? I'm really interested in learning more about your reference. Yes, I agree questioning the need is vital.

Hi Sue, really neat post - I got a lot out of it thanks. A technique from Psychosynthesis that aligns with your technique of starting a dialogue with the demon (or sub-personality)is to ask the demon what his/her need is.

Keep up the great posts ;)

Hi!! One of my biggest challenges is trying to figure out what my emotional needs are. I'm just recently remembering and coming to terms with emotional abuse in my childhood and I feel like I've kept my needs hidden (even from myself)

Might sound silly, but is there a core list of emotional needs you might offer as a place to start learning about basic human needs?

Thank you! this post is so helpful!

The only symptom that sounds like ADD was the difficulty with making transitions from one activity to another, and that is not limited to ADD. My daughter definitely had ADD. Had 2 good neuropsych evaluations that confirmed ii, not to mention that she clearly acted ADD. Medication was a life saver which she took through college.

I wish your daughter the best. I'm so happy that with an accurate diagnosis, she now has an opportunity to nurture herself and arrange her environment as much as possible so that it supports her, rather than drive her crazy

Thank you! I never agreed with medicating children for ADD or ADHD. I am scared that my children will be 'diagnosed' with that someday. I think that the main reason why the school system runs for the 'drugs' is because parents, today, are taking authority away from teachers. There is almost no accountability for children's actions. A teacher should be a figure of respect and knowledge. A child can be fidgety and full of energy, but they thrive and focus when there is something worthy of their attention. Which means that is up to the teacher to make that happen.

I very sadly read this post, holding my breath that you weren't going to tell me of some lasting physiological affect the ADD drugs. It broke my heart to read of the skin picking. This generation is going to be known as the guinea pig generation for these drugs.

More "focus" at the cost of your daughter's health? Since when is knowing about winter birds required to be a successful adult?

I thank God that you followed that nudge in you to get your daughter back!

I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a link share with me. I can put you with a reflection from someone else about ADHD or with a disability link page. If you are interested let me know. Also let me know where you would like to be placed.

Thanks,
Kris
